A History of the Apocalypse by Catalin Negru

A History of the Apocalypse by Catalin Negru

MY THOUGHTS

The history of the apocalypse is fantastic, insightful and a well-written book. It went in-depth into different walks of life, ethnicity, and religion. Catalin Negru was able to pull out major historical believes of the apocalypse. I wasn't expecting so much from this book but I have learned a lot. While reading, I felt like I was time traveling. Maybe because I don't have a great background in the study of history.

I absolutely loved it when Catalin discussed  Islamic eschatology not because I am a Muslim, maybe because I have been making plans to read the Quran in English from the beginning to the end as I did with the Bible. After reading this part of the book, my appetite to read the Quran increased.  Also, the Medieval scribe's exaggeration and myth that was used to emphasize the influence of the supernatural forces, God and the devil was another interesting part I read and was pleased with. I have earlier read some very old books about them. With that being said, the history of the Apocalypse broke the situation and events down in a manner that can help the reader understand better.

The history of the apocalypse also made mention of some events that are really touching. Putting myself in such a position made me really uncomfortable. An account was after  1350 when the European culture turned morbid; earth actually experienced hell. This book gives details of things that went down. I got emotional at this point.

This book also went a bit into slavery, which I think every black person like me should have knowledge about. I was shocked when  I learned that some  "people" in the time of old believed the blacks don't have a soul while some feel we are progenies of Cain. Lols

Another thing I think you will find interesting is the self-destructive apocalypse of the 3rd millennium.

Overall, I love this book. I absolutely recommend it.

  5. That totally blew my mind learning that old belief that the blacks don't have a soul! Why in the world any human beings would think that way? Looks like something I would be interested to read!
